What we’ve been up to in July

The main highlight of July was our meeting with the recently-elected NSW Member for Drummoyne, Stephanie di Pasqua. Climate Action Burwood-Canada Bay is proud to say we have positive and fruitful bipartisan relationships with political representatives across all three levels of government in our area.

We first met Stephanie when she attended our Speaking 4 the Planet schools competition last month, and after hearing her presentation, we were keen to speak with her at greater length.

The meeting did not disappoint. It covered a range of topics, including ways we can collaborate to raise public awareness of the climate crisis and to promote renewable energy. One of the specific matters we raised was the EV and renewable energy expo we are planning for next year, and Stephanie expressed strong interest and support.

Prior to our meeting with Ms di Pasqua she spoke glowingly in the Lower House of Parliament on June 29 about the Speaking 4 The Planet day. She gave her thanks to Climate Action Burwood-Canada Bay for organising “such a wonderful event for a worthwhile cause”.

The five-minute video of the Private Member’s Statement to Parliament can be seen on Ms di Pasqua’s Facebook page, while the transcript can be read on NSW Hansard.
