Climate Action Burwood-Canada Bay: About Us

Who are we?

Climate Action Burwood-Canada Bay (CABCB) is a non-partisan body of concerned citizens in the Burwood, Canada Bay and Strathfield local government areas of Sydney on land whose traditional owners are the Wangal people of the Eora nation. Our region encompasses the federal electorate of Reid and the state electorates of Drummoyne and Strathfield.

Our goal is to inform and engage the local community about the worsening climate crisis and to influence business and governments to take strong and urgent climate action.

We are a member of Climate Action Network Australia (CANA) and Nature Conservation Council of NSW (NCC), and are not affiliated with any political party. We encourage new participants to bring their ideas, skills and know-how to our group.

Climate Action Burwood-Canada Bay Inc. is registered as an incorporated association in New South Wales under the Associated Incorporations Act 2009. As laid out in our Constitution we operate as a not-for-profit organisation.

How to become a member?

You don’t have to be a financial member of Climate Action Burwood-Canada Bay to be a supporter or volunteer, but members are a vital part of the continuing survival of our group.

For a $10 annual fee ($5 concession), membership of Climate Action Burwood-Canada Bay gives you voting rights at our Annual General Meetings, the right to stand for committee or office, to organise delegated sub-committees, and to participate in our internal communications system (Slack). To join up, please go to https://climateactionbcb.org/join/

Monthly donations are the income stream that enables CABCB to pay its bills and undertake much of its activity throughout the year. While we receive grants from government and non-government bodies from time to time, these funding rounds are highly competitive and we can’t always rely on them to be successful.

We welcome donations either on a monthly or one-off basis. Please note that because our primary work is in public advocacy, donations made to us are not tax deductible.
