What we’re doing for the federal election (week 5)

We’re almost there.

A week from now, one thing will be certain: the polls will be closed.

How long before the winner of the federal election is decided, whether in a majority or minority government, is still anyone’s guess. The polls are leaning towards a Labor victory. But they did that in 2019 as well.

At Climate Action Burwood-Canada Bay our awesome volunteer team has put in many hours over many kilometres to get our important message into letterboxes across the Reid electorate: Solar saves. Nuclear costs. A big thank you to all our volunteers who have and are still taking part.

Our thanks also to our friends at Inner West Parents for Climate and the Australian Conservation Foundation (Greater Western Sydney chapter) who have also distributed leaflets at train stations and letterboxes in Reid.

In the final week we will be turning our focus to those suburbs with larger Korean communities. Our thanks to Asian Australians for Climate Solutions for producing a bilingual Korean-English flyer emphasising the stark differences between the benefits of solar and wind energy against the inefficiencies and serious risks of nuclear power.

And right up until Saturday, follow our social media for all the important messages about this Climate Election:

We won’t and can’t tell you who to vote for or who to vote against. But we can continue to praise good climate policies and call out the bad ones.

And may the best climate policies win on May 3.
