CABCB is holding a members and supporters meeting this coming Wednesday night (March 26th) at 6:30pm to set out our plans for the upcoming federal election. We need you to attend!
Zoom link is in last Sunday’s newsletter, or you can email us to request an invite.
The Federal Budget will be handed down on Tuesday night and the PM will visit the Governor General to set the election date some time after that. The election will happen on either May 3, May 10 or May 17.
Our electorate of Reid is seen as one of the key marginal seats, with Labor’s Sally Sitou holding it by 5.2%. There will be at least four candidates, three of whom appear to be climate-friendly.
We can’t campaign for or against candidates, but we can promote the policies that are the best for the climate.
Our main policy messages are:
• Renewable energy is the best to cut CO2 emissions
• Solar will save money for home-owners and renters
• Nuclear energy is not the answer. It will be expensive and arrive much too late.
At the meeting we’ll be talking about:
• The previous night’s Budget announcements
• CABCB’s plans for the election campaign (including the differences from 2022)
• The candidates’ forum we plan to run.
• Volunteers – what help YOU and the people you know can offer to make this happen.
Please join us, 6.30 Wednesday night!
